Shoalwater Bay Casino
The Shoalwater Bay Casino is a small Indian casino close to highway 105 which is dominated by slots, and besides those they have a few tables for Blackjack and Poker. The place is frequently visited due to their fair pricing.
By the time we arrived we had worked up a healthy appetite so we decided to have a go at the buffet. While there was not much choice, what they did offer was of good quality especially considering the price. We arrived during Rib Night, so we got those at $9 each. Besides Ribs you could choose the chicken which also looked delicious. They have a potato bar and a very decent salad bar and there were several desserts to choose from. They will never receive 5 stars, but overall it is very decent with very competitive prices.
The casino recently had a renovation on the outside which now has a nice theme with bears and an eagle and overall it gives the building an established and classy look. However, on the inside, this setting does not continue and it is an entirely different story. Due to the amount of smoke at the casino the ceiling is turning yellow and a stained carpet graces the floor, with pink walls, setting the tone. It simply does not compare to the scene that is set on the outside.
This being said, the front desk staff are very helpful and kind. Their souvenir shop was laughable, missing several important items like post cards that you would expect to find at such places. However, they did have several nice items; they just need more of them.
The casino itself contains mostly slots. A while ago, they used to have more tables for other games but adding more slots took the place of those. The casino offers a card program for their loyal clientele that entitles them to free stuff but I never entered in to it. I only visit here rarely so for me it is not worth it. The insides of the Casino are clean, and like the front desk staff the casino staff are just as friendly. There is a bar located at the front side of the Casino and the quality of the drinks is good with reasonable prices.
Overall the Casino is decent, and their low pricing is bound to get customers in, but it certainly cannot compare to any of the ones in Vegas. Overall I would recommend it to tourists visiting the area.
